Biomedical Engineer Technician (Onsite-6 open roles)

Broward County, FL 33316

Duration: 6 Months (possible extension or perm placement)

Shift

  • 8:00am – 5:00pm 

Overview:

The Biomedical Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of medical equipment and devices. The role ensures that all healthcare equipment operates efficiently and meets safety and regulatory standards to support patient care.

Duties Include:

  • Equipment Maintenance and Repair
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on medical equipment.
  •  Diagnose and repair malfunctioning medical devices.
  • Ensure equipment calibration meets manufacturers’ and regulatory standards
  • . Equipment Installation and Testing
  • Install and configure new biomedical equipment.
  •  Conduct performance and safety tests before equipment is placed into service.
  • Safety and Compliance
  •  Ensure compliance with healthcare safety standards (e.g., FDA, OSHA, TJC).
  • Maintain records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities.
  • Assist in equipment risk assessment and hazard management.
  • Technical Support
  • Provide technical assistance to healthcare staff regarding the operation of medical devices.
  • Troubleshoot user issues and educate end-users on proper equipment use.
  • Inventory and Asset Management
  •  Track inventory of biomedical devices and parts.
  •  Assist in procurement and disposal of medical equipment.
  • Collaboration
  • Work with vendors and manufacturers for technical support and warranty repairs.
  • Coordinate with clinical staff to minimize disruptions during maintenance.

     

    Qualifications:

    • Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.
    • Experience with CMS Nuvolo software for documentation
      Experience with Nihon Kohden patient monitoring
      GE VC150
      GE infant care Giraffe, Panda Aires.
      Steris/Amsco warming cabinets.
      Centrifuge, lab equipment
      Warming units.

    • Strong technical and problem-solving skills.
    • Proficiency in diagnostic tools and software.
    • Knowledge of safety standards and medical regulations.
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Preferred experience: 
  • Datex Ohmeda Avance Anesthesia machines
  • Getinge servo I, S, or U
  • Balloon Pumps
  • Certifications (Preferred):
    o Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) or equivalent.
    o Relevant OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) certifications.
    • Experience: 1–3 years of experience in biomedical equipment maintenance or a related field.
