AS400/ iSeries Developer (Hybrid, 3 days onsite)
Location: Issaquah, WA 98029
Length: 7 months (potential extension)

Overview:
We are seeking a talented and experienced AS400 iSeries Developer to support application development and solution delivery for a leading wholesale retail organization in the United States. This role requires strong technical expertise on the iSeries platform, solid understanding of retail systems, and the ability to work collaboratively with business analysts, product owners, and IT leadership. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable owning development tasks end-to-end in a fast-paced, enterprise environment.
Responsibilities:

Analyze, design, and develop iSeries applications supporting enterprise retail systems.

Create and maintain functional and technical specifications following standard development practices.

Perform code reviews, unit testing, and collaborate with QA and development teams to ensure high-quality deliverables.

Adhere to established IS development standards, deployment processes, and best practices.

Partner with Product Owners, business stakeholders, and QA to ensure requirements are clearly defined and documented.

Participate in sprint planning, estimation, deployment, and release activities.

Provide 2nd-level application support, resolve daily incident tickets, and create knowledge base documentation for 1st-level support teams.

Participate in on-call support rotations as required.

Conduct peer reviews to ensure code quality, scalability, performance, and reuse.

Contribute to technical discussions focused on application architecture, design, and user experience.
Required Qualifications:

Strong hands-on programming experience on the iSeries platform.

Proficiency in RPG, RPG ILE, SQLRPGLE, and Control Language (CLP/CLLE).

Strong SQL skills including complex queries, embedded SQL, cursor programming, and stored procedures.

Solid understanding of database concepts including physical files, logical files, SQL tables, indexes, views, and stored procedures.

Experience with screen programming using display files, subfiles, and printer files.

Experience documenting business rules, data mapping, and analyzing program and data flows.

Strong experience with ILE programming including modules, binding directories, and service programs.

Working knowledge of message queues, MQ triggers, and XML integration within RPG programs.

Strong communication skills with the ability to independently own and deliver project tasks.
