Epic Ambulatory Application Support Consultant (Hybrid, 3 days onsite)
Length: 5 month contract (potential extension)
Location: San Francisco, CA 94102
Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Epic Ambulatory Application Support Contractor to join the Epic Ambulatory team. This role provides technical and functional support for the Epic Ambulatory application and associated modules, assisting with service desk tickets, optimization requests, project builds, testing, and other assigned duties. The ideal candidate will have deep Epic expertise, project management experience in healthcare environments, and a strong understanding of multi-stakeholder system implementations.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day support for the Epic Ambulatory application, resolving system issues, building reports, completing project tasks, and participating in team meetings.
  • Assist with Service Desk Tickets, system optimization requests, and project builds.
  • Perform technical project management tasks including:
    • Assess and optimize system designs based on user needs.
    • Customize systems through design and configuration to meet business requirements.
    • Coordinate workflow design discussions, documentation, build, configuration, testing, and issue resolution.
    • Develop and maintain governance processes between business stakeholders and IT teams.
    • Create and manage project plans, estimates, resource allocation, and timelines.
  • Collaborate with City and County departments, DPH IT, and third-party vendors to ensure data movement frameworks and integration solutions meet project milestones.
  • Conduct system analysis, feasibility studies, vendor evaluations, and recommend solutions based on requirements.
  • Support network, database, and disaster recovery processes, troubleshoot software issues, and implement solutions.
  • Conduct user training and maintain training materials and technical documentation.
  • Test and validate software and integration solutions; create testing plans, cases, and reports.
  • Lead integration and functional testing between designated systems and Epic EHR, identify defects, and manage resolution pre- and post-go-live.
  • Maintain and disseminate technical reference manuals and project documentation.
  • Build internal technical capacity through knowledge transfer before contract completion.

  • Comprehensive project documentation
  • Service Desk ticket productivity reporting via ServiceNow

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Mastery of the Epic Ambulatory application with current certification.
  • Experience with all phases of clinical application implementation, including discovery, validation, workflow and process design, build, testing, integrated testing, end-user training, go-live, optimization, maintenance, and upgrades.
  • Project management experience in complex, multi-stakeholder healthcare organizations.

Desired Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Epic EHR implementation experience.
  • Epic Ambulatory Certification and current CEE.
  • Experience with Epic Reporting Workbench.
  • Knowledge of specialty modules: Wisdom, Bones, Kaleidoscope, Healthy Planet, MyChart, EpicCare Link, Compass Rose.
  • Strong communication skills for strategic and tactical deployments.
  • Experience with Epic integrated projects.
