Environment Manager – (Non-Production Environments) (Hybrid, 3-5 days onsite)
Length: 3 months (potential extension)
Location: Atlanta, GA 30303 or Bellevue, WA 98004

Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Environment Manager to lead the planning, scheduling, and lifecycle management of all non-production environments (Dev, QA, UAT, Performance). This role ensures environments are stable, secure, cost-effective, and available to enable efficient project delivery and testing. Acting as the central coordination point across technical teams (DBAs, Infrastructure, Security, Network, Application) and DevOps, the Environment Manager drives smooth CI/CD pipeline integration, proactive conflict resolution, and cloud cost optimization.
Key Responsibilities
Environment Planning & Scheduling

Own and manage the non-production environment (NPE) calendar including test cycles, releases, refreshes, and maintenance.

Allocate, prioritize, and schedule environments for multiple project and product delivery teams.

Manage environment sharing and resolve conflicts across teams, escalating risks where needed.
Technical & DevOps Coordination

Act as the single point of coordination across DBAs, Infra, Network, Security, and Application teams for environment readiness.

Collaborate with DevOps teams to integrate CI/CD pipelines into environment usage.

Ensure environments are provisioned, refreshed, and configured with dependencies in place.
Operational Ownership

Oversee environment builds, refreshes, patching, and upgrades.

Monitor environment health, availability, and performance in collaboration with SREs.

Ensure compliance with data, security, and audit standards.
Cost & Optimization

Accountable for cloud and infrastructure cost optimization.

Track actual vs. estimated usage and implement governance to minimize idle spend.

Apply FinOps practices using AWS Cost Explorer, Kubecost, or CloudHealth to right-size environments.
Collaboration & Governance

Work with NPE Intake Analyst to validate demand forecasting and feasibility.

Partner with Change Managers to align approved changes with environment readiness.

Collaborate with Incident & Request Managers to remediate systemic environment issues.
Required Skills & Experience
-
6–8 years of experience in Environment, Release, or Platform Management within large-scale non-production landscapes.

Strong background coordinating across technical teams (DBA, Infra, Security, Network).

Proven experience partnering with DevOps on CI/CD pipeline integration and automation.

Deep knowledge of AWS, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and environment orchestration.

Demonstrated expertise in cloud cost optimization/FinOps.

Strong stakeholder management, risk escalation, and communication skills.
