DevOps Engineer – Terraform & Ansible (Fully Onsite)
Length: 6 month contract (potential extension)
Location: San Jose, CA 95110

Overview:

We are seeking a highly hands-on DevOps Engineer with deep expertise in Terraform and Ansible to design, build, and maintain scalable automation frameworks across enterprise environments.

This is not a traditional Linux System Administrator role. We are looking for an engineering-focused automation professional who can architect infrastructure-as-code solutions, integrate system components, and deliver end-to-end automation across cloud, container, and on-prem platforms.

The ideal candidate thrives in large enterprise environments and can operate independently with minimal ramp-up time.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and enhance Terraform modules to build scalable infrastructure platforms

• Develop, deploy, and maintain advanced Ansible playbooks and roles across the full stack

• Lead infrastructure automation initiatives across production and non-production environments

• Perform hands-on OS builds, patching, troubleshooting, and maintenance (primarily RHEL)

• Integrate infrastructure components using Python scripting

• Deploy and manage applications within OpenShift or virtualized environments

• Support configuration management initiatives and infrastructure standardization efforts

• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and resolve system-level challenges

• Collaborate with development and platform teams to ensure seamless deployments

Required Skills & Experience:

Automation & Infrastructure as Code

• Extensive hands-on experience with Terraform (real-world platform development, not basic usage)

• Strong expertise in Ansible – must have written and developed playbooks and roles (not just executed existing scripts)

• Experience building automation frameworks across enterprise systems

Operating Systems & Infrastructure

• Deep experience supporting and troubleshooting RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux) in production environments

• Exposure to SUSE and/or AIX

• Solid UNIX/Linux fundamentals

• Experience with OS builds, patching, and system-level troubleshooting

Programming & Integration

• Strong Python scripting skills for automation and system integration

• Ability to integrate Terraform, Ansible, OpenShift/VMs, and OS components into a fully functioning ecosystem

Platform & Environment

• Experience with OpenShift or container platforms

• Experience with virtualization environments (VMware or similar)

• Background working in large enterprise environments
