AS4000 Developer (Hybrid – 3 days onsite, must be local)

Issaquah, WA 98027
Length: 4  month contract (potential extension)

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced AS400 / iSeries Developer to join a dynamic team in Issaquah, WA. This is a hands-on technical role requiring deep expertise in RPG programming, SQL, and iSeries platform development. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can own project tasks end to end, communicate effectively with business analysts, and deliver quality solutions with minimal supervision.

Must-Have Skills:

RPG and ILE Programming

• 8+ years of experience on the iSeries platform
• 3+ years of hands-on experience in RPGLE and SQL
• Proficient in RPG, RPG ILE, SQLRPGLE, and Control Language (CLP/CLLE)
• Strong ILE programming skills including program modules, binding directories, and service programs

SQL and Database

• Strong SQL knowledge including complex query analysis and modification
• Experience with embedded SQL in SQLRPGLE and cursor programming
• Ability to create and analyze physical files, logical files, SQL tables, indexes, views, and stored procedures

Screen and Report Programming

• Solid working knowledge of display files, subfiles, and printer files

Integration and Communication

• Working knowledge of Message Queue (MQ), MQ Trigger, and embedding XML tags in RPG programs

Documentation and Communication

• Ability to document business rules effectively
• Experience creating data mapping documents after analyzing program and data flows
• Strong communication skills with the ability to own a project task completely based on direct communication with client site analysts
