Google Infrastructure engineer (Hybrid, 3 days onsite)

Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced Google Infrastructure Engineer to serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for enterprise collaboration platforms. This role will own the architecture, administration, security, and ongoing optimization of Google Workspace and related collaboration tools, supporting a global workforce. The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on experience, strong security and governance expertise, and the ability to lead enterprise-scale initiatives.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as the SME and lead engineer for enterprise collaboration platforms including Google Workspace (Admin Console, Gmail, Drive, Vault, Gemini), Smartsheet, and Lucidchart.

• Lead day-to-day administration, configuration, maintenance, and architecture of collaboration tools at an enterprise scale.

• Design and execute global rollouts, configuration standards, and change management processes for new and existing features.

• Implement, maintain, and enforce security controls and governance policies including DLP, data residency, conditional access, SSO/SAML, and OAuth in close partnership with Information Security, Compliance, and Identity teams.

• Develop and maintain automation and scripting solutions using tools such as Google Apps Script, Python, PowerShell, and GAM to improve efficiency and service quality.

• Lead integrations between Google Workspace, Smartsheet, Lucidchart, and other enterprise systems to enable seamless cross-functional workflows.

• Plan and execute large-scale data migration projects between collaboration platforms, including M365 to Google Drive migrations.

• Evaluate emerging collaboration technologies and industry trends, providing strategic recommendations and roadmap input to enhance the digital employee experience.

• Partner with IT Asset Management to optimize licensing, usage, and costs, delivering data-driven insights to leadership.

Required Skills and Experience:

• 8+ years of hands-on experience administering and architecting Google Workspace (Admin Console, Gmail, Drive, Vault, Gemini), Smartsheet, and Lucidchart.

• 3+ years of experience implementing and enforcing security and governance controls including DLP, data residency, SSO/SAML, OAuth, and conditional access.

• Strong experience collaborating with Information Security, Compliance, and Identity teams.

• Advanced scripting and automation experience using Google Apps Script, Python, PowerShell, and/or GAM.

• Proven experience supporting global, enterprise-scale environments.

• Strong communication skills and ability to serve as a trusted technical advisor.
