Patient Surgical Scheduler (Fully Onsite)

DuPage/Kane County, IL 60504 (Aurora, IL)

4 months (extension only)

Shift:

• 8:00am- 5pm (Mon-Fri) 

Overview:

The Surgical Scheduler coordinates every step of the patient’s surgical experience, from scheduling and insurance authorization through post-op follow-up. Working closely with surgeons, physicians, and the surgical services team, this role ensures cases are scheduled accurately, safely, and with compassion for patients of all ages, from newborns to geriatric patients.
 

Key Responsibilities

• Schedule surgical cases based on physician preference, OR availability, and equipment needs, and maintain the daily surgical schedule.
• Coordinate dates and times with patients and families and provide pre-surgical instructions.
• Verify insurance benefits, obtain preauthorizations, and submit required information to insurers.
• Arrange first and second assists, outside vendors, and specialized equipment as needed.
• Coordinate post-surgical care, including post-op visits, imaging, and therapy.
• Respond quickly to stat requests and physician orders, and serve as a communication point during urgent situations.
• Enter surgical data accurately while protecting patient confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• 2+ years of scheduling experience, preferably in a surgical or healthcare setting
• Epic experience required
• Strong communication, organization, and prioritization skills
• Detail-oriented and adaptable in a fast-paced environment
• Bilingual in Spanish highly preferred
